Aim
To teach operators to safely operate Bobcat loading shovels
Objectives
On completion of the one / two day course, the operators will know:
- Their statutory duties under the Health & Safety at Work Act 1974
- The machine identification, terminology and daily maintenance
- The operational discipline of this type of plant
- The safe capabilities in relation to the load

Machine Operation (No Load):
- Pre-start checks
- Mounting machine & start up
- Travelling – reversing – manoeuvring
- Travelling on rough terrain
- Travelling on inclines
- Use of machine controls
- Mode of operation
- Position of bucket prior to and during digging operation
Machine Operation (Load Conditions):
- Positioning machine prior to digging operation
- Practical exercises
- Emptying bucket into container etc
- Close down procedure
Reporting Procedures:
- Reporting defects
